2009-2010 Preview: The 2009-2010 season will welcome back a veteran squad that achieved a (16-11) record last season.  The team will be led by returning veterans Mandy Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), Kacie Mills (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East)(pictured), Lindsay Bergman (Amherst, NY/Holy Angels), Mameyaa Ankoma-Mensa (Brampton, Ontario/D’youville), Jordan Schrimmel (Depew, NY/Depew), Tiffany Sullivan (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy), Taneda & Tanisha Travis (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Tara Larkin (Hilton, NY/Hilton), and Joey Ruderman (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale).

Newcomers who should add quality depth to the roster are led by Sue Black (Fillmore, NY/Fillmore), Mary Kate Bongiovanni (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), Brittney Rowland (Orangeville, Ontario/Westside Secondary), Nikki Meehan (Whitesville, NY/Whitesville), Megan Dougherty (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) and transfer Brittany Martin (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone).

The Lady Mavs face a challenging schedule, highlighted by local games against St. John Fisher, Buffalo State, and perennial national power, University of Rochester.  They travel to Boston, MA in November to compete in the Endicott College Tip-Off Tournament and begin AMCC play on November 24th at home against La Roche.

2008-2009 Review: The 2008-2009 women’s basketball season proved to be a season of change as the Lady Mavs had to claw their way to every victory.  The previous three seasons had yielded NCAA Tournament bids under the sensational class of 2008.  The 2008-09 version of the Lady Mavs was a younger bunch that was out to prove they could still compete for the AMCC crown.  The Lady Mavs jumped out to a nice start as they opened the season with four straight victories and won eight of their first eleven contests, en route to a (16-11) overall record and a (11-7) conference finish.  The second half of the season would see the Lady Mavs trade wins and losses as they headed to AMCC Tournament play.  In the opening round Medaille would dispatch of longtime rival, Penn State-Behrend, to propel them to the AMCC semifinals.  That game would be against top seeded Pitt-Greensburg, whom the Lady Mavs had dropped two heartbreakers to earlier in the season.  The Bobcats would sweep the season series and ultimately end the Lady Mavs season.  Their (16-11) record marks the sixth straight season that the Lady Mavs have been above the (.500) mark, in that time they have come up with (124) victories, an average of (20.7) wins per season.  A catalyst on the 2008-2009 team was senior Carissa Ferrucci (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata) who became the fifth player in program history to reach the (1,000) career point plateau.  She finished with (1,002).  She was named to the AMCC First Team All Conference while teammate Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) received Honorable Mention honors.  Sahhar led the Lady Mavs in scoring and rebounding with (13.8) points per game and (8.7) rebounds per game respectively.  She will look to lead the Lady Mavs into the 2009-2010 season along with Kacie Mills (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East)(pictured) who had a breakout season averaging (8.7) points per game and dishing out four assists per contest.  The Lady Mavs have a another strong schedule facing them next season, both in AMCC play and in their non-conference games.  Another strong recruiting class is expected from head coach Pete Lonergan as he enters his seventh season on the sidelines for Medaille, in search of his fourth AMCC title.
