Beiter_JakeThe Medaille College women’s volleyball team will enter the 2010 season under the tutelage of third year head coach Jake Beiter.  In just his second season, he led the lady Mavericks to a program best, (19-12) record as well as an AMCC playoff berth and a bid to the ECAC tournament.   He received AMCC Coach of the Year honors and the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s prestigious 30 Under 30 Award while leading the Lady Mavericks to the 4th best turnaround in the country.

The Eden native began his playing career at Eden High School under Coach Robert Pierce who also coached him throughout his club experience at Eden Volleyball Club.  Beiter racked up All Western New York honors and 3 state championships.   He then continued his playing career at Medaille and played for the men’s volleyball team from 2003-2007, where he earned the honor of 2x All American & American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year, while setting school records for most digs, aces and kills. He is also a three-time gold medalist winner in the Empire State Games in 02’, 03’ and 04.

Following graduation, Beiter was added to the men’s volleyball coaching staff as an assistant and still holds that position.  In 2007, he was hired as the Women’s Head Coach to revitalize a program that had gone 5-20 the previous year.  Along with his duties and responsibilities at Medaille College, he also coaches for Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club for the 18 National squad.  Beiter states, “outside of coaching at Medaille and Niagara Frontier, my free time is spent playing, living and breathing volleyball.”

Beiter has a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from Buffalo State College and graduated from Medaille College with a bachelor in Social Sciences.

This fall, the women’s volleyball season features over 30 competitive matches.  Beiter “stacked the schedule” with the area’s best competition as well as a cross country trip to California to experience four west coast contests.
