Junior defender Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili)(pictured) was named First Team All Conference when the NEAC announced its recipients last night. The third year player led her team in goals scored (26), total points (30) and ground balls (51). The Lady Mavs got off to a sluggish start to the 2010 season but won four of its last five games to finish with a (4-8) mark.

The Lady Mavs ended the 2010 season in a totally different manner than it began as they crushed Waynesburg College (23-2) on the road. The Lady Mavs finished the season winning four of their last five games and they found their offensive touch as the season drew on. The Lady Mavs scored early and often in this one as they netted the first twelve goals of the game en route to the non-conference win. Junior Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili)(pictured) put an exclamation point on her best season as she netted five goals, giving her a team best (26) for the year. (more…)

The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team used a dominating second half to run past NEAC foe Penn State-Abington (18-10) on “Senior Day”. The Lady Mavs opened the scoring just (1:11) into the game on a free position goal by freshman Amanda Williams (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) but Abington would tally the next three goals to grab a (3-1) lead. Medaille would score five of the next seven goals, heading into halftime with a (6-5) lead. The second half would prove to be decisive for Medaille as they stormed out of the locker room, netting eight goals in a twelve minute span to grab a (14-7) lead which Abington could not recover from. Male: Tyler Strassburg (So. – West Seneca, NY)(Lacrosse)
Tyler scored (11) goals and (7) assists in a (2-1) week for the Mavs. In a conference win over Wells College he tied a program record for points in a game with eleven (6 goals – 5 assists). He currently leads the Mavs in goals (26) and points (40). The Mavs are now (4-5) overall and (2-1) in NEAC play.

Female: Heather Boyzuck (Fr. – Mexico, NY)(Lacrosse)
The rookie had a breakout week as she recorded three straight hat tricks, ending the week with (9) goals and (2) assists as the lady Mavs earned their first victory of the season. She is currently second on the team in goals scored (13) and tied for second in total points with (15).

The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team was looking to put a winning streak together as they hosted NEAC foe Wells College this afternoon at All High Stadium. A nip and tuck affair turned in the second half and Medaille fell (16-12). Freshman Taylor Hackford (Hamburg, NY/Frontier)(pictured) had a career day in the loss as she poured in four goals and assisted on three others for a seven point day. (more…)

The steady progression of the Medaille College women’s lacrosse team finally resulted in a victory as the Lady Mavs traveled to Somerset, NJ to take on NEAC foe, College of St. Elizabeth. Coming off an overtime loss in their previous game, in which they tallied (16) goals, the Lady Mavs would roll past St. Elizabeth (17-1). The host team jumped out quickly as they scored thirty seconds into the game to take a (1-0) lead but that would be all the Lady Mavs would surrender as they scored seventeen straight goals, thirteen of which came in the first half. The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team was in search of their first victory of the season as they headed to NEAC foe Cazenovia College on a rainy Wednesday. The game was a seesaw affair that saw a pair of second half runs by each team lead to an (18-16) overtime victory for Cazenovia. The Lady Mavs received strong performances from many in the tough loss as Lauren Dunkle (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) and Katie Vanderwenken (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) each tallied three goals and dished out two assists. Freshman Heather Boyzuck (Mexico, NY/Mexico)(pictured) also registered a hat trick while assisting on a goal in the loss. (more…)

The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team faced a very strong Allegheny College squad on the road this evening and fell to the Gators (21-3). The Lady Mavs are still searching for a victory but have made tremendous strides in their previous three games as they will have a brief hiatus before heading to Cazenovia College for an NEAC matchup on Wednesday (4/7) at 4:00pm. In the loss the Lady Mavs were once again led by junior Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) who tallied a pair of goals to give her ten on the year. (more…)

The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team had their best offensive day but it wasn’t enough as they dropped a conference game (16-9) at home to Morrisville State. The Lady Mavs fell behind (5-0) just thirteen minutes into the game but then showed their resiliency as they netted four straight in a seven minute span to close within one. On that run Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili)(pictured) and Heather Boyzuck (Mexico, NY/Mexico) alternated goals. (more…)

The Medaille College women’s lacrosse team scored just (52) seconds into their game against Keuka College as Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili)(pictured) slashed to the net to give Medaille a (1-0) lead. It would be their only lead of the game as Keuka rode the strong play of Brandy Shafer who torched the Lady Mavs for six goals and an assist in the Storm’s (15-3) NEAC win. Meyer would tally two goals on the day, giving her five on the year, while sophomore Lauren Dunkle (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) notched her first goal of the season. The Lady Mavs kept pace with Keuka in the first ten minutes but Shafer took over after that. Junior goalie Jody Lang (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary’s) made ten saves on the day for the (0-4) Lady Mavs. They will look to pick up their first win of the season when they host NEAC foe Morrisville State on Sunday (3/28) at 12:00pm at All High Stadium.
