_PM20800
The Medaille College softball team locked up the fifth seed in the six team AMCC playoff tournament with a split against Mt. Aloysius College this afternoon at McCarthy Park.  It was a day that seemed doomed to never happen as bus problems for the Mounties and potentially treacherous weather conditions delayed the start of the opener by 70 minutes.  However, the skies cleared and Mt. Aloysius arrived safe and sound to start the AMCC series.  In the opener the Lady Mavs fell (2-0) despite a strong outing from senior pitcher Amanda Westling (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) who tossed a complete game seven hitter in which she allowed just one earned run while fanning seven.  Junior Merissa Ciesielski (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland Hill)(pictured) went (2 for 2) in the opener while Carrie Stahura (Depew, NY/Depew) was (2 for 3) from the dish.  (more…)
