On the baseball side of things the Mavs placed two players on the AMCC First Team as junior Nick Kanutsu (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and sophomore Mathew Urbanski (Depew, NY/Lancaster)(pictured) each earned that distinction. The Medaille College baseball team is wrapping up their regular season with a pair of single game non-conference matchups, the first of which they hosted today, as Empire 8 powerhouse St. John Fisher visited Buffalo, NY on “Senior Day”. In the early stages of the game it seemed the Mavs could pull off the upset as they took a (2-1) lead in the bottom of the third inning on a base hit from Brandon Lumadue (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East)(pictured) (2 for 3, 2 RBI) that scored Nick Kanutsu (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East)(1 for 3, R) and Jeffrey Cox (Buffalo, NY/City Honors)(2 for 4, 2R, 2B). However, the Cardinals would tally six runs in the top half of the fourth en route to a (16-3) win over the Mavs. Senior hurler Alex Lindauer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was strong early as he fanned five batters in his five innings of work. The loss drops the Mavs to (18-15) on the season and they will wrap up regular season play tomorrow (5/5) with a single game at Fredonia State.
