Three days after a hard fought season opening victory the Medaille College men’s lacrosse team was a mere shell of itself in a lackluster (14-5) defeat at the hands of Vassar College in Myrtle Beach, SC. The two teams seemed poised for a sixty minute back and forth battle as they were knotted at (3-3). However, Vassar would net a pair of quick goals to take a two point advantage and would never look back as the sluggish Mavs couldn’t mount a comeback. Sophomore Matt Dunkle (Hamburg, NY/Frontier)(pictured) tallied two goals on the days as did Tyler Strassburg (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East). The Maverick scoring was rounded out by junior midfielder Jimmy Luthart (Amherst, NY/Amherst) who scored his third of the season. The loss drops Medaille to (1-1) on the season and they will face Alfred University on the road on Saturday (3/20) at 4:00pm.
