Baseball & Softball Place 7 on All Conference Teams

The Medaille College baseball and softball teams were well represented when the AMCC posted their All Conference teams. Both teams made it to the conference playoffs with the Lady Mavs making an exciting run to the title game. On the baseball side of things the Mavs placed two players on the AMCC First Team as junior Nick Kanutsu (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and sophomore Mathew Urbanski (Depew, NY/Lancaster)(pictured) each earned that distinction. Kanutsu finished the season with a (.426) batting average, a (.722) slugging percentage and a team high (7) home runs while Urbanski hit at a (.400) clip, scoring (37) runs and banging out four triples. Junior’s Brandon Lumadue (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East) and Jeffrey Cox (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) each were named to the Second Team for their outstanding play. Lumadue hit (.424) for the year while driving in (36) runs and belting out four home runs. Cox posted the AMCC’s second best batting average at (.480) while scoring (35) times and driving in (28) more runs. The softball team had two First Teamers, senior Laura Mauger (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and sophomore Kristen Rohe (Buffalo, NY/Cleveland Hill). Mauger was strong at the dish and in the field as she posted a (.340) batting average with (33) RBI, she also had a (.971) fielding percentage from her third base position. Rohe scored (45) runs (second best in the AMCC) while hitting (.377) and driving in (32) runs. Junior Alyssa Zemla (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was selected to the Third Team as she led the AMCC in home runs with (12) and was second in the conference with (45) runs batted in.
