Lacrosse Falls in ECAC Semifinals

The Medaille College men’s lacrosse team concluded the 2010 season with a (14-8) loss in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament Semifinals to top seeded Kean University. The host team jumped out to a quick (4-0) lead before the Mavs cut the lead in half with a pair of goals by freshman Jake Engleman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) early in the second quarter, he also assisted on another in the third quarter. However, the host team would go on a (5-0) run to take a commanding (9-2) lead into halftime. The Mavs would outscore the Cougars (6-5) in the second half but it wouldn’t be enough. Sophomore Tyler Strassburg (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East)(pictured) netted a pair of goals to finish the season with a program record (49) goals and (74) points. Junior Jim Luthart (Amherst, NY/Amherst) had a goal and an assist, as did freshman Joe Kozovski (Ajax, ONT/St. Mary’s). Junior Joe Glieco (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and sophomore Matt Dunkle (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Ellis (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) stopped nine shots in his final game. The Mavs finish the season with a program best (9-9) record and first ever ECAC Tournament appearance and victory (10-9 win over Morrisville in quarterfinals).
