Softball Drops a Pair to Rivier
The Medaille College softball team had a tough day in Orlando, FL as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Rivier College. In the opener the Lady Mavs shook off twelve strikeouts at the dish to give themselves a chance in a tough (2-1) loss. Senior Amanda Westling (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) took the loss. The lone run came from Holley McAllister (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta)(pictured) who went (1 for 3) on the day. She was knocked in by Alyssa Zemla (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) who also went (1 for 3). Junior Carrie Stahura (Depew, NY/Depew) was able to keep it a one run game as she made a clutch catch at the fence to save a run. In the second game McAllister would lead the way again for the Lady Mavs as she went (3 for 4) from the plate with one of those knocks being a double. Stahura would go (1 for 3) while scoring (2) runs and driving in another. Sophomore Kristen Rohe (Buffalo, NY/Cleveland-Hill) struck out two and walked three batters as she registered the loss. The sweep by Rivier drops Medaille to (3-5) on the season and they will face Mitchell College tomorrow (3/11) for a 10:30am doubleheader.
