The Medaille College men’s volleyball team climbed in the national and conference rankings as a result of a great week against ranked competition. A huge factor in their success was the play of senior outside hitter Ryan Murdie (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East)(pictured) who posted ridiculous numbers, for the week he posted (102) kills while hitting at a (.374) clip. In five matches against ranked teams he had (92) kills, a (.400) kill percentage, (13) blocks, (7) service aces and (18) digs for the Mavericks. As a result, Murdie has been named the NECVA Player of the Week. The Mavs jumped from 14th to 7th in the national AVCA rankings while moving up five spots to 2nd place in the NECVA poll. The NECVA is the largest single-sport conference in the United States consisting of 43 member schools. The Mavs will host Hilbert College on Thursday (2/25) at 7:00pm in a divisional match-up.

The Mavs began last week ranked 14th in the national poll and tied for 7th in the conference rankings. A great week of play that included wins over three ranked teams (including two top ten squads) catapulted the Mavs into a tie for 7th in the national AVCA poll and the Mavs jumped from their seventh place perch in the NECVA rankings into second place behind Baruch College in those rankings. The Mavs are currently (13-4) overall and sit atop the NECVA Western Division standings at (6-0).
