Mavs Struggle in Regular Season Home Finale

Thirteen was an unlucky number for the Medaille men’s basketball team as the Mavs lost for the first time on their home floor leaving them with a (12-1) regular season record in the Sullivan Center. The loss came at the hands of Pitt-Bradford as the Panthers dominated en route to a (79-63) road victory. It is the second time that Pitt-Bradford has beaten Medaille this season but this time it was much more convincing than the (68-65) win they earned in Bradford, PA on January 13th. The Mavs struggled mightily from the all areas of the floor in the first half as the Panthers sizzled the nets. The Panthers also won the war on the glass, outrebounding Medaille (35-25) on the night. The Mavs showed signs of life in the second half as they shot (61.1%) from the field and (42.9%) from behind the arc but to no avail as Pitt-Bradford countered every mini-run that the Mavs made. Leading the way for Medaille in the scoring ledger was senior Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay)(pictured) who posted a team high (13) points. Coming off the bench to contribute a career high scoring mark was sophomore Angel Flores (Bronx, NY/Samuel Gompers) as he knocked down (4 of 5) shots and finishing with (12) points. Senior Chris Moscato (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) dished out (4) assists and buried a pair of three pointers in the loss as well. The Mavs drop to (21-3) overall and (16-3) in AMCC play as they head into their regular season finale on Saturday (2/20) at Pitt-Greensburg for a 3:00pm tip-off.
