Volleyball Stays Perfect in Divisional Play
The Medaille College men’s volleyball team rebounded from a tough five set loss to Nazareth in their last outing by cruising in a pair of NECVA matches at SUNY-IT this afternoon. In their opening match the Mavs made quick work of Lancaster Bible (3-0); (30-19, 30-19, 30-17) and then they pasted SUNY-IT (3-0); (30-19, 30-26, 30-20). The Mavs received spectacular efforts from a trio of players as junior Dave Girts (Falconer, NY/Falconer)(pictured) was a beast at the net finishing the tri-match with (13) blocks. Sophomore Nick Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) led the attack as he crushed (14) kills without committing a single error en route to a (.636) kill percentage. Sophomore setter Sam Arnold (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) posted (56) assists on the day as he guided the Mavs offense to a pair of victories. With the wins Medaille improves to (13-4) overall and they remain atop the NECVA Western Division standings at (6-0). The Mavs will get a well earned break as they don’t hit the court until Thursday (2/25) when they will host Hilbert College for a 7:00pm divisional showdown.
