Lady Mavs Reach 20 Wins at Mt. Aloysius

The Medaille College women’s basketball team returned to familiar ground with their (67-55) victory at Mt. Aloysius this afternoon, another twenty win season. The Lady Mavs reached the mark for the fifth time in the last six seasons as they are now (20-2) overall and (17-0) in AMCC play. The win is the tenth straight for the Lady Mavs and it keeps them alone atop the AMCC standings. It wasn’t the Lady Mavs strongest performance of the season but they found a way to win. The game would be won in the paint and on the boards for Medaille as they outscored the Mounties (38-16) in the paint and outrebounded them (41-30). The Lady Mavs connected on (41.4%) from the floor while limiting Mt. Aloysius to (27.5%) from the field. A trio of Lady Mavs tallied ten points apiece with Mameyaa Ankoma-Mensa (Brampton, Ontario/D’youville)(pictured), Kacie Mills (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East), and Susanne Black (Houghton, NY/Fillmore) accomplishing that. Ankoma-Mensa would lead the team with (8) rebounds while Mills dished out (6) assists and swiped (3) steals as well. The Lady Mavs fell behind (5-4) early but would never trail again after that en route to the win. The Lady Mavs will get a much needed rest as they don’t hit the hardwood again until Saturday (2/13) when Frostburg State heads to the Sullivan Center for a 1:00pm conference match-up.
