Volleyball Stays Perfect in Divisional Play
The Medaille College men’s volleyball team won its fifth straight match as they bested NECVA Western Division foe Hilbert College (3-1); (30-26, 21-30, 30-18, 30-22) in Hamburg, NY this evening. The 15th ranked Mavericks received a near flawless performance from sophomore Nick Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) who put down (14 of 16) kill attempts without an error for a remarkable (.875) kill percentage. Many of those kills were assisted by Sam Arnold (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora)(pictured) who posted a team high (24) assists. Senior Ryan Murdie (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) led the team with (15) kills while chipping in with (3) service aces and (2) blocks. In the match the Mavs hit at a tremendous (.357) clip while limiting the Hawks to a kill percentage of (.192). The Mavs are now (7-2) overall and (3-0) in NECVA Western Division action. They will get back to action on Tuesday (2/9) at 7:00pm as they head to Nazareth College for a rematch of an epic five-set match win that they posted over the 7th ranked (at the time) Golden Flyers in the Sullivan Center.
