Lady Mavs Hang On at Penn State-Behrend

The Medaille College women’s basketball fell behind (8-0) in the early stages of their AMCC game at Penn State-Behrend before going on an (18-0) run to take command. The Lady Mavs would never trail again in their (60-50) victory in Erie, PA. That eight point deficit came with just two and a half minutes elapsed from the clock but Medaille would limit the Lions to a mere six points in the final (17:33) of the opening half as they headed to the locker room with a (22-14) edge. The Lady Mavs won despite struggling to hang on to the ball as they turned it over (28) times which led to (26) Behrend points. However, their dominance on the glass and swarming defense led them to victory. The Lady Mavs outrebounded Behrend (59-42) and limited the home team to (22.7%) shooting from the floor. A pair of players posted career highs in rebounds as Tiffany Sullivan (Penfield, NY/Nazareth Academy) pulled down a game high (13) caroms and Susanne Black (Houghton, NY/Fillmore) grabbed (10) boards. Junior point guard Kacie Mills (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East)(pictured) continued to have her scoring touch as she netted a game high (15) points while dishing out (4) assists. Meanwhile Sullivan and Black each posted a ten point night as well. The win keeps the Lady Mavs magical season cruising as they move to (19-2) overall and (16-0) in AMCC play. The Lady Mavs will take to the road on Saturday (2/6) as they will face Mt. Aloysius College for a 1:00pm conference contest.
