Lady Mavs Dominate in Season Opener
The Medaille College women’s basketball team got their season started on the right note with an (80-48) dismantling of crosstown rival Buffalo State College. The Lady Mavs jumped out quickly as they held a (15-0) edge five minutes into the game and they never looked back. The Bengals would trim the lead to six with (6:09) remaining in the first half before the Lady Mavs would explode en route to the (32) point victory. Leading the way for Medaille was junior Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park)(pictured) who had a game high (19) points while connecting on (7 of 13) from the floor, she also stripped away three steals on the defensive end of the floor. Junior point guard Kacie Mills (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) chipped in with (14) points and (3) assists as she knocked down seven of her eight attempts from the charity stripe. Freshman Susanne Black (Houghton, NY/Fillmore) showed her promise as she scored (11) points while pulling down (8) boards. The Lady Mavs open the season at (1-0) and they will head to Boston, MA to take on Fitchburg State on Friday (11/20) at 6:00pm as part of the Endicott College Tournament.
