Men’s Soccer Stays Perfect in AMCC Play

The Medaille College men’s soccer team struggled to find the back of the net despite outshooting D’Youville College (44-2) in a (3-0) AMCC win in Elma, NY. The Mavs dominated play throughout holding the Spartans without a shot on goal. It took Medaille until the 43rd minute to break the game open as sophomore Matt Brehm (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) tallied his first goal of the season as he received a ball from Kendell McFayden (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) and Josh Hall (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) both of whom were credited with an assist. The Mavs would strike again two minutes later as Stuart Ziegler (West Plains, MO/West Plains) drove home his fifth of the year on another assist from Hall. The second half would begin in the same fashion as the first half ended as Medaille tallied just four minutes into the second frame when Hall buried his second goal of the season for his fourth point on the afternoon. That goal came courtesy of senior Gary Boughton (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) who now has (18) assists in 2009 and an NCAA Record (78) for his career. The Mavs are now (12-2-1) overall and stay perfect in AMCC play at (6-0-0). The Mavs will host La Roche College on Saturday (10/17) at 8:00pm in a critical conference match up.
