Men’s Soccer Rolls in Shortened Match
The Medaille College men’s soccer team dominated AMCC foe Mt. Aloysius College (12-0) on a wet and dreary day in Cresson, PA. The Mavs found themselves up (6-0) after eighteen minutes of play and (11-0) at the half. The game would be stopped after the (70th) minute due to weather conditions and the score. Senior Gary Boughton (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) factored in on the first six goals of the game before being pulled as he netted a goal and assisted on five others as he stretched his NCAA all time assists mark to (72). Freshman Nick Cavalieri (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) came off the bench to post a hat trick while senior Josh Meier (South Wales, NY/Holland) drove home two goals as well. Netting the games final goal, the first of his career, was senior defender Mike Antkowiak (Clarence, NY/Clarence)(pictured) who has been a perennial starter and a strength in the back for the Mavs. Splitting the shutout for Medaille were Jimmy Frascati (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Nick Kurtz (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster). The win moves Medaille to (8-1-1) overall and (2-0-0) in conference play. The Mavs will head to Geneva, NY on Tuesday (9/29) to take on the nation’s sixth ranked team, Hobart College, at 4:00pm.
