Geneseo State Too Much for Lady Mavs
The Medaille College women’s soccer team dropped its second straight road game as they fell (3-0) to a strong Geneseo State team. The Lady Mavs were unable to muster up much offense but they received solid play in the central midfield from freshman Katie Botsford (Penfield, NY/Penfield)(pictured) and a strong effort from junior Katie Bush (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown). The Blue Knights peppered the Medaille goal all game long, to the tune of (37) shots. Despite that fact the Lady Mavs only trailed (1-0) after the first half of play. A ten minute lapse in the second half proved to be game deciding as Geneseo capitalized on some sloppy play by Medaille to net their second and third goals of the contest. Junior goalkeeper Brittany DeBole (Rochester, NY/Northstar Academy) stopped (15) shots on the day. The loss drops Medaille to (2-5-0) on the year. A second season of sorts will begin for Medaille on Saturday (9/19) as they open up conference play against Franciscan University. That game will be played at the Nichols School with a 4:30pm start time.
