Mavs Stay Unbeaten; Cruise Past Daemen
The Medaille College men’s soccer continued to roll as they cruised past NAIA scholarship foe Daemen College (5-0) this evening. The Mavs were recognized by D3Soccer.com as the nations 26th ranked team in this weeks poll. Medaille dominated Daemen throughout, outshooting the Wildcats (37-7) en route to the win. Sophomore Alexander Rouse (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) continued his torrid scoring pace as he netted two more goals and assisted on another Maverick goal. Rouse now has (8) goals and (1) assist for (17) points on the season. Sophomore transfer Stuart Ziegler (West Plains, MO/West Plains) registered his first goal as a Maverick while assisting on another. The Mavericks opened the scoring at the (27:09) mark as senior Josh Meier (South Wales, NY/Holland) buried home a Rouse offering. Ziegler would strike just (25) seconds later on an unassisted tally to double the Medaille lead. Rouse would score the next two markers, the first one coming less than a minute after the Mavs second goal, Ziegler would assist on that goal. The second Rouse goal would come courtesy of the NCAA’s all time assist king, Gary Boughton (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) in the games 62nd minute. The final tally of the game came off the foot of junior Chris Waclawski (Brocton, NY/Brocton) with eighteen minutes remaining in the game. Sophomore Ryan Goettel (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) posted another shutout as he stopped all four shots that he faced. The win keeps the Mavs unbeaten at (6-0-1) as they will open AMCC play on Saturday (9/19) when they will host Franciscan University at 6:00pm at All High Stadium.
