Final Fours Set For AMCC Playoffs
For the second straight season both of Medaille’s basketball teams have advanced to the AMCC semifinals. This season the picture is flip-flopped as the men are hosting and the women will take to the road. The men move to the semifinals after receiving a first round bye. The Mavs will take on the #4 seed Frostburg State Bobcats at 5:00pm in the Sullivan Center. Frostburg upended Penn State-Altoona in their quarterfinal matchup by a score of (63-49). The second semifinal will have an 8:00pm tipoff, pitting #2 seed Penn State-Behrend (who received the other bye) taking on the #3 seed Pitt-Bradford Panthers. The Panthers advanced after their (80-72) win over La Roche College. The championship game will be played at Medaille on Saturday (2/28) at 3:00pm. On the women’s side the Lady Mavs will take on the top seeded Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats in Greensburg, PA at 6:00pm Friday (2/27), the Lady Mavs advanced with a (69-60) win over Penn State-Behrend this evening. The other semifinal will see #2 seed Penn State-Altoona battle the sixth seeded La Roche Redhawks, who upset Frostburg State (46-44) in their quarterfinal matchup. The women’s championship will take place at Greensburg on Saturday (2/28) at 3:00pm. The winner of each championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
