Mavs Roll Past Pitt-Bradford for Key AMCC Victory
As Mother Nature wreaked havoc outside, the Medaille College men’s basketball team did the same inside the Sullivan Center, as they avenged an earlier overtime loss with a (71-60) win over Pitt-Bradford. The Mavs led for all but (2:23) in this one, going up by as many as (13) points on several occassions. However, the Panthers would not go away quietly as they pulled to within four points (54-50) with (10:33) remaining in regulation. The Mavs would score seven straight points after that and squash any hopes that the Panthers had of a comeback. In the crucial conference victory the Mavs received quality performances from several players. Leading the way was junior, guard, Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) who finished with a game high (16) points to go along with (6) boards. A pair of sophomores shined for the Mavs as Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneer) (pictured) and Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) each dropped in (14) points, with Malicki tying a career high with (7) rebounds. The win moves Medaille to (13-5) overall and they remain atop the AMCC standings at (8-3). The Mavs will head to Frostburg State University on Saturday (1/31) for a 3:00pm conference tilt.
