Men’s Soccer Keeps Rolling
The men’s soccer teams (0-4-0) start is a distant memory as the Mavs have used the lessons learned from their grueling road start to explode over the last six games. The latest victim was conference foe La Roche College who came into All High Stadium and was blitzed from the opening whistle as the Mavs scored early and often enroute to a (6-0) win over the Redhawks. The Mavs are unbeaten at home (5-0-0) and have outscored their opponents (35-1) at All High. This evening’s game was no different as the Mavs scored just (3:06) into the first half on a beautiful goal by Josh Meier (South Wales, NY/Holland) who blasted a shot past the La Roche keeper on a beautiful ball played by Scott Gentner (Buffalo, NY/St. Joe’s)(pictured), Gentner would also tally the games fourth goal. The Mavs are making header goals a common thing as they had several of them in this game, all of which were highlight reel scores. The Mavs once again used a balanced attack as six different players found the back of the net. Along with Meier and Gentner the Mavs received goals from David Pihlblad (Randolph, NY/Randolph)(1 goal, 1 assist), Jacob Reisdorf (Strykersville, NY/Holland)(1 goal), Alexander Rouse (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus)(1 goal) and Kendell McFayden (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North)(1 goal). Rouse’s goal was his team leading (8th) on the season as the freshman forward continues to impress. Also having another great night was Gary Boughton (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) who continues to pad his all time assists lead as he notched (2) more to give him (50) for his career. The Mavericks improve to (6-4-0) overall as they have won six straight and they move to (2-0-0) in AMCC play. The Mavs will host the nation’s sixth ranked team, Hobart College, on Tuesday (9/30) at 7:00pm at All High Stadium.
