Medaille Sports

The Medaille College men’s soccer team played the nation’s fifth ranked team, York College, with Tropical Storm Hanna bearing down on them.  The two teams would play a scoreless first half with York outshooting the Mavs (6-4). The second half would see the host team control play a bit more as they held a (7-3) shot edge.  The Spartan would break the tie at the (62:13) mark as they scored off of a flip throw-in and chip shot for the game deciding goal in a (1-0) win for York.  The Mavs received strong play in goal from freshman, Ryan Goettel (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) who came up with (5) saves on the day.  The loss drops Medaille to (0-4-0) on the season.  The Mavs will look for their first win tomorrow (9/7) as they head to Penn State-Harrisburg for a 1:00pm match.
